Rides - Helene
- Holiday ride - Jan 3rd, 2026. Start 4:30pm. - it was a great success. Lots of folks came out. Looking forward to lots of more rides coming up this spring! Hopefully in the daylight and hopefully without much rain!
City of North Vancouver - Rhonda/Easton
- Meeting with Staff - Held in january
- Casano Loutet Bridge
- Casano-loutet overpass is on schedule for a July opening. The bridge span will by up by the time of our meeting (the last and longest of the three pieces is scheduled for the 4th; highway closure starting at 10pm)
- there will be photos and videos posted to city social media
- they would like HUB to participate in the grand opening this summer
- Grand Blvd
- the piece of grand boulevard west between the parks *will* be closed and turned into part of the park. They plan to have it open at the same time as the overpass.
- probably start construction there in April
- Chesterfield & Midtown Connector
- chesterfield will be the next focus, once the 17th/grand boulevard/casano-loutet segment is done.
- midtown connector will need input from the multimodal network plan, which is connected to the official community plan update, which is gearing up to start.
- the network plan will start public engagement next year; it's currently in internal planning phase.
- Jones Overpass
- connections from the green necklace to the Jones overpass will be upgraded, and eventually to the upper levels greenway once that's built. The Jones overpass itself isn't getting upgraded because that's MOTT property.
- King's mill
- more segments open; still under construction. The current block of the separated bike lane should be finished in June, and the next block later.
- spirit trail has connection to a small amount of waterfront on the east side of the park. The rest of the spirit trail along the waterfront will be another couple of years.
- Fell overpass at 1st
- widening the east side is in final stages, and will be done in the spring.
- 2nd & Fell near the creek will have construction and a bike route detour in spring/summer while Lonsdale Energy installs a heat transfer station.
- Cap mall
- no info sessions or meetings until 2027. They are considering connections to other bike routes.
- Trails & Moodyville
- info session coming up in March (? easton please double check this, your notes were typed) and they're looking at spirit trail connections there.
- Spirit Trail
- Section at Park & Tilford is the last gap in that route within cnv
- Wayfinding improvements
- are in planning, and they'll do the shipyards area first because of all the visitors coming off the seabus. They're working on a branding refresh for the wayfinding signs.
- We should make sure our priority map is up to date when the election happens, so when the new council is setting priorities we're ready.
- 3rd/Keith/Marine/Bewick Intersection - connection to West Third (towards Cap Mall)
District of North Vancouver - Duncan/Stephen/Stewart
- Regular meeting with DNV staff
- If Queens Road get's funding confirmed in April, **construction go ahead in summer 2026.**
- TransLink Rapid Implementation = 100% funded!
- A bike route geographically needs to go along queens in front of Delbrook. There is no alternate route.
- A solution to not be on West Queens is to build a big bridge - possibly bigger than McCartney Creek on Spirit Trail. Would need to build a crossing over Mosquito Creek.
- No option through William Griffith
- A bike route does not need to go along Queens in front of District Hall.
- Harry Jerome will be open expect summer 2026 - which will ease load on Delbrook
- Mtn Hwy - Arborlynn connector
- Deferred until 2027 due to BC Hydro Pole and other Mtn Hwy needs
District of West Vancouver - Peter/Mike C
Update From Sean O'Sullivan, Manager, Roads & Transportation:
- Westbound bike Lane at the Taylor Way-Hwy1 interchange from Hadden Drive across Taylor Way to Westcot Road:
- At the end of Dec 2025 MoTT responded to our permit application with several questions. The District responded to the questions at the end of January. We are waiting for MoTT to approve the work and issue a permit. The IFC drawings are complete and once we have the permit form MoTT we will go to tender and are planning for construction to start this summer.
- Separated bike lane section on the Spirit Trail at 13th and Argyle:
- A survey and design consultant has not been selected yet. I am planning to start the design phase of the project in March.
- Separated bike lane section on the Spirit Trail south of the railway overpass by the Capilano River:
- Parks raised several concerns about the proposed changes, and we have decided to focus first on the Argyle/13th St segment before taking a second look at the section near the railway underpass.
- Improved signaled intersection at 31st and Marine Drive with painted bike lanes between 31st St and Travers Ave:
- BC Hydro has tentatively scheduled the work to relocate several poles near the intersection to start on Feb 16. Our consultant has completed the 100% drawings for the civil work, and we are waiting for the electrical consultant to issue the 100% drawings for the signal work. Once the utility poles are relocated and the IFC drawings are ready, the project will be tendered. I am hoping to be able to tender the project in April and I am hoping construction will start this summer.
- BCAA Evolve e-Bikes:
- This week, the agreement between BCAA Evolve e-Bikes and the District has been signed. The plan is to roll out the e-bikes on Feb 13 at 20 stations in the District.
Sean O'Sullivan's responses to questions:
- 1. Will there be painted bike lanes on each side of Marine Drive between Travers Ave and 31st Street?
- Yes, the project will extend the bike lanes to Travers Ave.
- 2. Is there any update on plans to fill the gap in separated bike lanes between 14th and 16th Streets on Argyle Ave?
- Unfortunately, we decided to hold off on that project until 2027, partly to see if any plans for Waterfront Park move forward.
- 3. Is there any update from Donna Howes on plans for new bicycle infrastructure in Horseshoe Bay?
- Not yet. We have prioritized updating the Bay Street and Bruce Street plans and modifications to the Horseshoe Bay Streetscape guidelines to accommodate two developments that are eager to move forward. I am hoping we can shift attention to the bicycle infrastructure later in the Spring.
- 4. Has any further consideration been given to installing an eastbound protected bike lane on the south side of Marine Drive from Taylor Way, giving access to the entrance of the eastbound bridge over the Capilano River, then terminating at the Capilano Pacific Trail?
- I am planning to meet with our construction contractor in early March to see if he would feel comfortable providing us a quote based on a site meeting or if he needs an engineering design. If he needs an engineering design, I was going to ask the consultant we hire for the work at 13th Street and Argyle Ave to also do the survey and design for the ramp.
- 5. Are you aware of any plans to encourage pedestrians to use the new sidewalk north of the separated bike lane, adjacent to the Executive on the Park apartment building at the NE corner of Marine Drive and Taylor Way?
- I hadn’t heard that pedestrians were using the new cycle track rather than using the sidewalk. The first thought that comes to mind is adding signage something like the keep right/left sign for a modified sign with arrows that we installed on the Spirit Trail. Let me know which one you prefer and I can get one installed at each end of the cycle track.
